History of the Freedom Fund Gala
The Charleston Branch of the NAACP is the oldest branch in the state of South Carolina. Every year for over 100 years we have hosted the Annual Freedom Fund Gala.
The Charleston Branch NAACP was established February 23, 1917, eight years after the founding of the NAACP.
The gala recognizes the branch’s illustrious history while also celebrating current progress in social justice.
Ways to support the 2026 NAACP Charleston Branch Freedom Fund Gala
This year's theme, "Join the Fight for Justice,” celebrates our shared pursuit of civil rights, equity, and the protection of democratic values in our communities.
There are several ways for you and your organization to participate:
- Individual Tickets - $100
- Reserved Tables - $1,100 This includes 8 tickets and listing in the event program book
- If you or your organization is purchasing a table at any level, please submit the names of those who will be seated.
- Companies may allow members to purchase 8 tickets for $800 and donate the $350 balance or fully donate $1,100 and invite volunteers to attend

The 2026 NAACP Charleston South Carolina Freedom Fund Gala promises to be an evening rich with insight and inspiration.
The event is scheduled for Friday, November 20, 2026 Doors Open at 6 PM, at the Gadsden-Murray Family Life Center, located at 1110 Camp Road in James Island, SC.
This year’s keynote speaker is Senator Corey Booker, Among many accomplishments and achievements as New Jersey’s Senator, Cory Booker has brought an innovative and consensus-building approach to tackling some of the most difficult problems facing New Jersey and our country. He has emerged as a national leader in the effort to fix our broken criminal justice system and end mass incarceration, helping craft the most sweeping set of criminal justice reforms in a generation, the First Step Act, which became law in December 2018. He has also advocated for economic policy that expands opportunity, increases wages, limits corporate concentration, and cracks down on corporate practices like outsourcing, stock buybacks, and no-poach agreements that firms use to keep wages down the American dream isn't real for anyone unless it's within reach of everyone. Cory has dedicated his life to fighting for those who have been left out, left behind, or left without a voice.
This year's event not only celebrates individual achievements but more importantly aims to foster a spirit of unity and progress within the community.
