The Charleston Branch of the NAACP is the oldest branch in the state of South Carolina. Every year for 102 years we’ve hosted the Annual Freedom Fund Gala. The Charleston Branch NAACP was established April 14, 1917, eight years after the founding of the NAACP. The gala recognizes the branch’s illustrious history while also celebrating current progress in social justice.
To highlight the achievements of local citizens and foster a spirit of unity and progress within the community.
The 2025 Freedom Fund Gala brings a significant highlight to the event, promising an evening rich with insight and inspiration. Scheduled for Friday, November 14, at 6:30 PM, the gala will be hosted at the Gadsden-Murray Family Life Center, located at 1110 Camp Road on James Island. This year’s keynote speaker is Congressman James Clyburn, a prominent figure in American politics and a long-serving member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
He is known for his passionate advocacy for civil rights and social justice. His presence is expected to draw a diverse group of attendees, eager to hear his perspectives on current issues and the ongoing struggle for equality and freedom.
The event not only celebrates achievements but also aims to foster a spirit of unity and progress within the community.
